Dental Pain
The Tooth Fairy Knows
The pain studies that most impressed the National Institute of Health panel were those
addressing the discomfort that follows dental surgery. In one study of 94 patients who had
acupuncture immediately after having a tooth pulled, 86% reported no pain and 10% noted
slight pain. Only 3% said the acupuncture provided no relief. (Health Magazine,
April 1998.)
This comes as no surprise to those of you who have used
acupuncture, especially the non-needle auricular technique for your dental extraction
pain, TMJ, or Tnigeminal Neuralgia. I have been pleased by the clinical results and feel
confident in my ability to aid these patients.
