Balance Method Acupuncture for Pain
Classical Chinese Style for Treating Pain
Acupuncture has been
practiced throughout the world for thousands of
years. Over that time a diverse number of styles of
acupuncture have developed. These include Chinese,
Japanese, Korean, French and many others. Each style
is unique and different from the other and one may
be more or less suitable for an individual or a
specific condition. The Balance Method is one
specific style of acupuncture that has shown itself
to be especially suited to treating pain.
The Balance Method is a
Classical Chinese style of acupuncture which uses
exclusively distal points. This means that the
needles will be placed at sites away from the
location of symptoms. When using the Balance Method
I may place a number of needles in your knee to
treat your elbow pain, and we expect to see instant
results. It is likened to placing a pole in the sun,
the shadow will appear instantly. In most cases I
expect to see a 50% reduction in symptoms right
away. I will often have you walk around or move the
affected area to get circulation going well and test
how well the treatment is working. It is very
exciting for patients to see how quick the changes
can happen and how fast pain can disappear.
In acute cases symptoms
may clear up in as little as 2-3 treatments and with
longer standing chronic conditions patients may come
in for between 1-3 courses of treatment (a course
being 8-12 treatments.) Our philosophy at
FirstHealth is to use acupuncture as an
intervention. This means using it for a specific
amount of time to help you achieve your health
goals. During this time we will also work to give
you tools that are necessary to maintain the changes
that are produced through acupuncture for the long
term. These tools may include exercises,
supplements, dietary recommendations and more
depending on your individual needs.
If you are interested in
the Balance Method and wonder if it might be helpful
for you, then please give us a call to schedule a
free consultation. We would be happy to sit down
with you to talk more about your specific needs and
provide you with a treatment plan including how
often and how long you might be expected to come to
see your desired results. |
